Environment.
As recently as five years ago Cobaw was a heavily stocked fine wool growing property, producing show-winning Merino fleeces. Since then over 90 kilometres of tree seeding has been sown, and over 8,500 tree seedlings have been hand planted along the waterways, and over the granite rises.
A substantial farm plan was put into action in 2000. This plan spans a ten year period and has as some of its objectives water quality improvement, and a system of native vegetation strips running through the property to form wildlife corridors. Already significant advances have been made as measured by the area set-aside for native vegetation re-generation, and evidenced by the counts of native birds and other animals now attracted to the property.
In improving the beautiful ranges environment Cobaw has worked closely with private consultants, government authorities, and volunteers including, Greening Australia, DSE, TreeProject, Field & Game Australia, GreenFleet, and Macedon Rangers SC. |
